Harry Connick, J. s debut album for Verve Records is going to be a love letter to songwriting icon Cole Porter, and will coincide with a Broadway show later this year, the label announced on Thursday. Focused exclusively on the songs of Porter, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter will be released in October, followed in December by a limited-run show at the Nederlander Theatre on Broadway. He announced his new label home during an appearance on NBC's Today show in March. Connick's stage show, called HARRY CONNICK, J. A Celebration of Cole Porter, will have its world premiere at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC on Sept. 21 and 22 before making its way to the Nederlander for a Broadway run in December. The artist will embark on a national tour following the Broadway engagement.
