Epiphany (Chrisette Michele song). Epiphany" is the first single from American soul-R&B singer-songwriter Chrisette Michele's second studio album of the same name, released for airplay on January 27, 2009. It was a R&B top 20 hit and became her most successful single to date. It also marks her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, where it peaked at #89.

Chrisette Michele's very good debut, I Am, won a couple Grammys but did not did not have corresponding commercial success. None of its three singles reached the Top 20 of the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The album itself barely dented the Top 30 of the Billboard 200. She co-wrote each one of its songs and passed on the opportunity to record "Irreplaceable," later taken on by Beyoncé and made into one of 2006's biggest singles. Consider all of this, Grammy part excepted, and it's understandable why Chrisette would be steered in a different direction.

The album was released by Island Def Jam on May 5, 2009, debuting at on the Billboard 200 with 83,000 certified first-week sales.

Album · 2009 · 13 Songs. The daughter of a deacon and a choir director, Chrisette Michelle possesses a voice bathed in the purity of gospel music, and with Epiphany she adapts her superlative vocals to a modern pop-R&B setting. Pop prodigy Ne-Yo wrote almost half of the album’s 13 songs, including the title track and What You Do, two singles that luxuriate in Michelle’s sincerity and the sweetness of the hooks. Nothing on Epiphany is too rushed or overblown, and Michelle doesn’t have to belt it out to capture the listener’s attention.
