Christmas Music and Carols. Christmas is a universal time of celebration, though the event is celebrated in different ways by different communities across the world. While Christmas is a single day, the Christmas period often involves a lot of preparations starting in November or even earlier. Among the many songs and melodies we hear at Christmas are Christmas Carols, traditionally sung by Christmas carollers.

Christmas Joy in Latvia – Latvian Christmas Cantatas’ (2012). If you're looking for actual, traditional Christmas music, you couldn't do better than this rich, fascinating album of carols done by the New York Latvian Concert Choir, which is conducted by 74-year-old Andrejs Jansons. Mixing modern and ancient, Christian and pagan, sung in a clean, distinctly Baltic vocal style, this music powerfully evokes the richly textured, American immigrant experience.
Irving Berlin penned "White Christmas" for the classic Christmas movie Holiday Inn, and Bing Crosby delivered a beautifully memorable, if slightly mournful, take on the tune. Crosby got a second shot at the song on the set of White Christmas, where he knocked it out of the park (again). The 1987 Special Olympics charity album, A Very Special Christmas, had some incredible contributions from A-list artists like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, and Stevie Nicks. But their songs (mostly covers) were all overshadowed by the standout track "Christmas in Hollis" from upstarts Run-DMC, who were still relatively new on the scene. C-3PO and R2-D2, "Sleigh Ride". If you're looking for a Christmas song for the Solo fan in your life, you don't need to head to a galaxy far, far away.
