Golden Hair is an album by jazz composer, arranger, conductor and keyboardist Gil Evans recorded in 1987 and performed by Evans with Laurent Cugny's Big Band Lumiere. All compositions by Gil Evans except as indicated. Golden Hair" (Laurent Cugny) - 14:37. Orange Was the Color of Her Dress, Then Blue Silk" (Charles Mingus) - 11:06. Parabola" (Alan Shorter) - 10:00. Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" (Mingus) - 6:28.

The twenty-one songs on this album originated as a collection of chamber works for which Brian Byrne, inspired by select poems from Irish writer James Joyce s Chamber Music (1907), set Joyce s words to original music. Byrne collaborated with over twenty artists, in addition to The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, to record his songs. The album covers a range of genres - from adult contemporary to jazz and big band, spoken word, classical, and bluegrass.

Celebrate Bloomsday with Golden Globe-nominated and IFTA award-winning composer Brian Byrne who performs a selection of songs from his brand new Goldenhair album in his hometown of Navan, with special guests and friends, including William Byrne, Lisa Lambe, Hayley Jo Murphy and more. Additional artists will be updated as added. Originally a suite of chamber works, Byrne’s twenty-one track album sets the stanzas of select poems from James Joyce’s 1907 collection Chamber Music to original orchestrations.
