Há 60 anos nascia a Bossa Nova, que revolucionou e levou a música brasileira para o mundo. Santa Catarina também contribuiu com o gênero: o compositor Luiz Henrique Rosa, nascido em Tubarão, fez parte do panteão de nomes daquele glorioso período.

Bossa nova is a style of Brazilian music, which was developed and popularized in the 1950s and 1960s and is today one of the best-known Brazilian music styles abroad. The phrase bossa nova means literally "new trend" or "new wave" (Portuguese pronunciation: (listen)). A lyrical fusion of samba and jazz, bossa nova acquired a large following in the 1960s, initially among young musicians and college students.

Luiz Henrique Fernandes da Rosa (Tubarão/SC Nov 25, 1938 - Florianopolis/SC, Jul 9, 1985), Brazilian singer, composer and guitar player. While it's true that Luiz Bonfá is a forgotten name among many bossa nova lovers - past and present - a forgotten name rarely associated with his younger peers he influenced (Jobim, Gilberto, de Moraes) who took the music to international popularity. Bonfá is a ghost whose shadow looms large over the music, whether he is well known or not. He composed both main themes for Black Orpheus, which ended up on the hit soundtrack.
