This is the discography of Duke Ellington. Most of these recordings are listed by the year they were recorded rather than year released. Reissues are listed for most of the recordings released before the 1950s, as the original 78s are rare.

Piano – Duke Ellington. Tenor Saxophone – Al Sears. Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet – Jimmy Hamilton. This unofficial release copies the mistake on other similar LPs by listing Eddie Barefield on trumpet, he played alto saxophone and clarinet in Duke Ellington's band. Johnny Hodges is listed as playing soprano saxophone on the 1947 selections, but everything I have read says he gave up the instrument after 1940.

All the great songs and lyrics from the "Duke Ellington: The Fabulous Forties, Vol. 2" album ont he Web's largest and most authoritative lyrics resource. Style:MLA Chicago APA. "Duke Ellington: The Fabulous Forties, Vol. 2 Album.

Three of the first six selections feature the pianist leading a nonet (with the rest of his band waiting in the wings), with individual features for trumpeters Ray Nance and Taft Jordan plus baritone saxophonist Harry Carney ("Sophisticated Lady"). Billy Strayhorn takes over the piano and Nance switches to violin for a playful duet of "Moon Mist. The next four selections come from aCiro's in Hollywood, complete with an annoying announcer talking over the song introductions.
