Craft discography (all). lt; Fuck the Universe (2005). Darkness Falls (2018). The drum session with Dirge Rep had to be scratched partly because we did a lot of extra changes on Void after the drum recording session, and partly because of stupid decisions by me (Joakim) during production. Craft’s minimalistic tendency to straight songwriting may bore more than a few listeners. Their 2011 album Void features no true progression from their past albums, but the band unleashes their stock-in-trade elements, including diminished guitar harmonies, mostly slow doomy rhythms and funereal power-chord progressions. “The Ground Surrenders” features highlighting riffs and structure, but, for example, the concluding title track isn’t much more than repetition of D# riffing and harmonies for its whole duration. The band tend to use a bit too much economy in their musical proposal, and, as a result, their albums tend to be monochromatic and sometimes very indigestible. They should learn to use more variety, although their status as “old-school Black Metal” has given them a solid, if slightly ignorant, fanbase.Highlights: “The Ground Surrenders”, “Succumb to Sin”.
