A Moment is the second album of R&B singer Lalah Hathaway. The album's first single was "Let Me Love You," produced by Brian Alexander Morgan of SWV fame. A video was also shot for the single. The follow-up single was "Separate Ways," released as a double-A side single with "Family Affair. The Martyn Ware-produced "Family Affair" was actually released in 1991 and billed as "BEF featuring Lalah Hathaway".

Album · 1994 · 13 Songs. With 1994’s A Moment, Lalah Hathaway struck a perfect balance between hip-hop and R&B at a time when those genres were just starting to mingle. The leadoff single is neither rap nor R&B; it's a little of both. It's based off a dual interpolation of The Treacherous Three’s The Body Rock and The Detroit Emeralds' 1973 tune You’re Getting a Little Too Smart ; the pair of samples are emblematic of how Hathaway bridges past and present. That theme continues on her stellar cover of Sly Stone’s Family Affair

Lalah Hathaway is the 1990 debut album of singer Lalah Hathaway. The album's first single was "Heaven Knows", produced by Derek Bramble. The follow-up single was "Baby Don't Cry", produced by Angela Winbush. The third single was "Somethin'". The disc featured two versions of the song "Night and Day" as well as two songs taken from the Lalah Hathaway album.

Lalah Hathaway should have become as big a name in 1990s R&B as the equally talented and equally Chaka Khan-influenced Mary J. Blige, but regrettably, the singer never became as visible as she should have been. Donny Hathaway's daughter didn't record often enough (four years passed between her first album and her sophomore effort A Moment), and unlike Blige, she never provided a consistently excellent album. Like Lalah Hathaway, A Moment is a mixed bag ranging from the strong to the decent to the routine (depending on who's producing and/or writing a particular song).
