A greatest-hits collection of King Sunny Adé's surprisingly large output. As such, it's somewhat more comprehensive than your average best-of album. The album starts out with the seminal "Synchro System," a piece showcasing his style of music, which goes by the same name; it features talking drums and guitars throughout the band, with careful synth bits thrown in for ornamentation

King Sunny Adé (Sunday Adeniyi, born 1946) is by far the most popular performer of Nigerian Jùjú music. With his band, King Sunny Ade and His African Beats, King Sunny Ade became an international star across Africa during the mid-1980s, touring and gaining a significant audience in the United States and Europe as well. He is known as the Minister of Enjoyment.

Sunny Adé, son of a royal Yoruban family-his father was a Methodist minister-church organist and his mother was leader of the choir-was interested in percussion instruments as a child, but his parents opposed a career in music: A Nigerian prince was meant to pursue law. At age seventeen Adé quit school to go to Lagos, teach himself to play guitar, and join the Rhythm Dandies, a high-life band run by Moses Olaiya (subsequently famous throughout Africa as Baba Sala, a comic and filmmaker).
