The album, Joe's performance of "The Imposslble" and the song, itself, were all nominated for Grammy Awards. As 2002 ended and 2003 began, Nichols picked up new-artist awards from Billboard, Radio & Records, Music Row magazine and the Academy of Country Music. Brokenheartsville" hit No. 1 on the charts, and Nichols' performance of it earned him another Grammy nod. The RIAA chipped in by announcing Man with a Memory as a Gold Record on May 13, 2003. Tony Martin has received more than 20 BMI songwriting awards, including one for co-writing the Joe Nichols top-20 hit of 2003, "She Only Smokes When She Drinks. 9. "Cool to Be a Fool" (Joe Nichols, Steve Dean, Will Nance) This was the first one of Joe Nichols own songs that was chosen to be a single. Released in 2003, the swing tune won him a SESAC songwriting award on November 10, 2004.

The songs are solid post-Alan Jackson mid-'90s Nashville country with a little more depth than the average hat act of the era, and there are a few minor gems here like the dryly humorous "Wal-Mart Parking Lot" and the fine country-rocker "She Could Care Less. Still, the average Joe Nichols fan has probably bought this album at least once, and he doesn't need it again. Newer fans might be interested, however. Track Listing - Disc 1. Sample.

Joe Nichols ends a lengthy absence from No. 1 on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Country Airplay radio chart, as "Sunny and 75" rises 2-1. His fourth No. 1 becomes his first leader since "Gimmie That Girl" crowned the May 8, 2010, chart. In between, he peaked at No. 17 with "The Shape I’m In" and No. 25 with "Take It Off" in 2011. The three-and-a half-year gap between "Girl" and "Sunny" isn’t Nichols' longest dry spell atop the chart. He waited nearly four-and-a-half years between his second and third No. 1s ("Tequila Makes.

Since his first studio album in 1996, Nichols has done a lot more than sing about the disrobing effects of tequila. He has released nine studio albums, earned a couple of Grammy Awards nominations and tallied more than a dozen Top 40 singles. Nichols' best songs show off his range as a country singer.
