Inventions - Blanket Waves flac mp3
Inventions began in 2013 as a collaboration between Eluvium's Matthew Cooper and Mark T. Smith of instrumental post-rock band Explosions in the Sky. The two had long been friends and both had albums with their respective bands on the Temporary Residence Ltd. label when Inventions was conceived . The album was accompanied by an EP of remixes by the Field, Leyland Kirby, and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. Later in the year, the duo released Blanket Waves, an EP of two extended dreamlike collages.

Inventions’ EP Blanket Waves onTemporary Residence is in this week's new music release forecast.
There are only two songs here on Blanket Waves, and they both go well past 10 minutes, and are certainly pleasing if not extraordinary.
Blanket Waves follows the same path of Maze of Woods characterized by a brilliant mix of ambient and post-rock scattered by vocal samples and indeterminate instrumentation that make the whole composition mysterious and intriguing. The opening ‘Blanket Waves’ has a unique sound that lies in the space between ambient, drone and post rock. Guitars, the primary mode of communication for Inventions, here made a great job and lead the listeners in a journey through a multitude of nuances that sometimes appear desolate but they are always warm till landing onto the beautiful crescendo towards the end of the 14-minute track.
