Jay and the Americans are an American pop rock group popular in the 1960s. Their initial line-up consisted of John "Jay" Traynor, Howard Kane (né Kirschenbaum), Kenny Vance (né Rosenberg) and Sandy Deanne (né Yaguda), though their greatest success on the charts came after Traynor had been replaced as lead singer by Jay Black. They were discovered while performing in student venues at New York University in the late 1950s. They auditioned for Leiber and Stoller, who gave the group its name.

The best thing about Levon is that he has so many sides, from the sound his voice gave to the Band's rich harmonies to how he can rip it up on songs like "Yazoo Street Scandal," "Don't Ya Tell Henry," "Up on Cripple Creek" and "Rag Mama Ra. He can pop in for sensitive moments, such as in between Manuel's vocals in "Whispering Pines. On that album, there are strings and beats, but it isn't very full musically, so she has to do all the dynamics and everything. If you really want to hear what she can do, listen to "It's Oh So Quiet," from Post: She can go from zero to 60 faster than any other vehicle in terms of singing. He was absolutely confident and superbrave. I first heard Muddy when I was a kid, around my family's music store. His baritone always stood out - not only above other blues singers but above all voices and styles of music that I heard.

This Jay Z discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Jay Z albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included Jay Z singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums.

Jay could be the King of The Post-Biggie Jiggy Era, or simply, the King. Jay-Z had to make The Great American Rap Album. In retrospect, bread crumbs to The Blueprint’s topical and musical themes can be found first on Vol. 3 where he lashed out at oncomers-daring them, inviting violence, reminding listeners of his proximity to the street. Unlike most battle rap, it skirts the jokes and jabs and simply called attention to his rivals’ career missteps. Nothing but cold facts. And the album’s closer? It may be the single best song of Jay-Z’s entire career. Warm organ swells from Al Green’s Free At Last are met by muted kicks and open snares, creating a spacious, ambient bounce perfectly suited to Jay-Z staccato cadance.
