Acoustic Alchemy is an English smooth jazz band formed in England in the early 1980s by Nick Webb and Simon James. Acoustic Alchemy was formed around the acoustic guitars of Simon James (nylon string) and Nick Webb (steel string), often backed up by double bass, percussion, and string quartet the Violettes. The band made two albums that were unprofitable. In the mid-1980s, James left, and in the 1990s he formed Kymaera, a similar, though more Latin oriented band.

This Way (Acoustic Alchemy album). This Way is an album by Acoustic Alchemy, released on May 14, 2007 in the United Kingdom. It was released on June 6, 2007 in the United States. It features special guest appearances from trumpeter Rick Braun (on the track "Carlos The King"), saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa (on "Egg") and collaborations with label-mates Down to the Bone.

American, English, 2005.

Acoustic Alchemy has remained one of the most popular smooth-jazz ensembles around, as evidenced by their record sales and consistently high placement on the charts, and AMERICAN/ENGLISH will not disappoint long-time fans. In fact, this recording is something of a return to form for the group. While the adventurous direction taken on previous outings is still present here, the emphasis is on melodic interplay and guitar dialogues as heard on early recordings by group founders Greg Carmichael and Nick Webb

The journey across the pond promised by the album title begins with the laid-back, easy-grooving "The Crossing," but then becomes more adventurous with the Craig David-flavored . club vibe of "Say Yeah" and a more than subtle nod to the disco fun of "So Kylie" Minogue. The classic Carmichael-Webb days featured a handful of organic, simply arranged reggae-flavored cuts, and this vibe is brought to glorious life on "Trinity. Gilderdale's soul influences creep back on the swinging "The Detroit Shuffle," but again, it's all about the.
