Cobra is a hidden gem of the late 70's electronic 'fusion era. Recorded in Vancouver, Canada with Canadian players, Cobra has a wide variety of unusual themes and is a good example of the open attitudes of record labels in the late 70's. Originally released in 1978 in Canada, I received my album in the U.S. in 1979 as a promotional copy. Standout tracks are the gritty funk driven "Scouting Party, the odd-metered "Computer Samba" and "Patch Bay". The latter is a vibes driven mellow ending to a wildly varied album of analog synthesizer-based music. Recommended highly to anyone looking for music from this fertile period of creativity. By 1981, record companies would totally ignore this sort of creative outlet for musicians. So pick up a copy on line and enjoy.

Wes is absolutly right. I now have a vinyl copy of this album AND also, the album Vimana, from a band called NOVA who, just like Dale Jacobs, is a hidden gem. If you like the style and find this album, take it!
