Wang Jian (fl. 220s BC) was a military general from the State of Qin during the Warring States period. Under his command, the Qin army conquered the states of Zhao, Yan, and Chu. He is considered one of the four greatest generals of the Warring States period, along with Bai Qi, Lian Po and Li Mu. Wang was born in Dongxiang, Pinyang, Guanzhong (north-east of modern Fuping County, Shaanxi province). His son, Wang Ben (王賁), was also a Qin general.

Jian Wang is a contemporary Chinese painter. A child drawn to art, Jian Wang learned the Russian Social Realism popular in China, but spent his own time studying Rembrandt and Michelangelo. Impressed by his artwork, Marjorie sponsored Jian's journey to America so he could have the freedom to develop his own artistic voice. In 1986, Jian arrived in the United States. He took art courses at Sacramento City College from Fred Dalkey. At University of California, he learned from Wayne Thiebaud, Manuel Neri, Roland Peterson and David Hallowell.
