Japanese pianist and composer Hiromi Uehara dazzled the jazz world with her 2003 debut, Another Mind. Its mash of keyboard pyrotechnics and range of compositional styles was multiplied exponentially by her irrepressible energy.

Brain is an album from Hiromi Uehara's trio featuring bassists Tony Grey a. nd Anthony Jackson, and drummer Martin Valihora. Hirom 's concept in this album was to explore how complex and twisted the human brain can really be. To do this she incorporates the use of both acoustic and electric pianos to change modd throught out the album and sometimes in the midle of the songs as seen in the title track and to an extent the opening track, Kung-Fu World Champion.

Hiromi started learning classical piano at the age of six, and was later introduced to jazz by her piano teacher Noriko Hikida. At 14, she played with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Bassist Anthony Jackson was guest artist on two Brain tracks and is featured on her 2011 album Voice, 2012 album Move and 2014 album Alive, and 2016 album Spark along with drummer Simon Philips. Her most recent tour (2015) featured Anthony Jackson and Simon Phillips Hiromi's Sonicbloom. Hiromi at the Moers Festival, 2007.
