Down and Out Blues is the first LP record by American blues musician Sonny Boy Williamson. The album was released in 1959 by Checker Records (see 1959 in music). The album was a compilation of Williamson's first singles for Checker, from "Don't Start Me to Talkin'" b/w "All My Love in Vain" through "Dissatisfied" b/w "Cross My Heart". The album features many famous blues musicians backing Williamson, including Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, and Willie Dixon. Fattening Frogs for Snakes" b/w "I Don't Know" was recorded on February 6, 1957 and was released either in late May or early June. 99" was recorded on September 1, 1957 and was released as the B-side of "Born Blind" in late January or early February 1958. The single "Cross My Heart" b/w "Dissatisfied" was. recorded at the same session.

Blue and Lonesome is an enjoyable reminder of how the Rolling Stones could sound when they didn’t drift far from the world of the twelve-bar blues.
Even thought that might freak out Shepherd's fans, the latest CD is a huge success in terms of delivering the purest form of blues. The 2-disk CD/DVD is a fantastic chronicle of the blues, and through most of the journey (which hits everywhere from Kansas to Louisiana) Shepherd bows out of the limelight. During Brown's performance Shepherd plays rhythm guitar, but anything else would have seemed almost like upstaging. Lyrics - 10 You don't get more heartfelt and honest than a blues lyric, and 10 Days covers a lot of ground in the genre. There is a beautiful simplicity in blues that isn't heard much these days, but there's plenty of humor along the way as well.
