Can't Slow Down is the debut album by American rock band Saves the Day, released on August 11, 1998, by Equal Vision Records. Saves the Day formed in late 1997. The album was produced by Steve Evetts purely because Evetts had previously worked with Lifetime – a band vocalist Chris Conley loved. It was recorded during the winter break of Conley's senior year of high school, and released after the band graduated from high school.

MINUTES FROM THE 2002 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONCEPT ALBUM SOCIETYAs I'm sure you are all aware, 2002. The result is the pleasant musical equivalent of a slow, deliberate character study, rich with symbols like circling crows and a house in disrepair, more concerned with in-depth observation of the protagonists than with narrative movement. Unfortunately, this pace makes for a less than successful concept album, with song topics tracing an endless I Love You/I Love You Not oscillation, from the cautious happiness of the title track and "Game Shows Touch Our Lives" to the for-the-throat attacks of "No Children" or "Have to Explode". The majority of Tallahassee, recorded with Darnielle's Extra Glenns cohort Franklin Bruno, is, like the Extra Glenns' Martial Arts Weekend, typically stripped-down Goats fare with an occasional minimal embellishment.
Tallahassee is the first album by the Mountain Goats to be released on a larger independent label, 4AD. It is also the first of their albums to include a full band, as opposed to earlier releases that were just John Darnielle with occasional backing vocals/bass.
