Butler then recorded the song live in one take, singing and playing acoustic guitar with a three-piece band backing him for the first 11 and last five minutes of the song. Butler then broke the song up into two- to five-minute chunks and passed those out to various musician friends, who added their own instrumentation and vocals.

"Devil Glitch" is the boldest and weirdest record I've ever listened.Chris Butler is a misrecognized genius because he created the definitive track: "Devil Glitch", a one-hour allegory of music. In fact it's played in different rhythms, styles (like rap, latin, punk, rock, electronica, folk, acoustic etc....) and intonations. Chris never stops singing for over an hour! That's incredible! But, you'd probably say: " why four-and-a-half stars? "Devil Glitch" is really a masterpiece only because it's long?" My question would be: no. "Devil Glitch" deserves the rating because it works even like a pop tune: the first three minutes are the real song and then the chorus is repeated until the end(!) but is so strong and powerful that doesn't annoy you.
