This was West's second album as a solo artist under her new label, United Artists Records. The year the album was released, West also released an album with Kenny Rogers titled, Every Time Two Fools Collide. The title track and the album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts, and revitalized West's career.

The album came on the heels of two chart-topping West duet albums with Kenny Rogers and reestablished West as a major solo artist, becoming West's most successful solo album since 1967 thanks in part to three top 15 country hits on the collection, including "A Lesson in Leavin'", the first solo number one record in West's 20-year career. Are You Happy Baby: The Collection. The Essential Dottie West. Dottie West: RCA Country Legends.

Forever Yours is the name of a Country music album by Dottie West, released in 1970. This album was named after the single spawned from this album. The "Forever Yours" single just missed breaking the Billboard Country Top 20, reaching No. 21. There is a mixture of songs on here, some are heartbreak songs, and some such as cover versions of "Rocky Top" and the Pop hit "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" are fun-loving songs. This would be her last charted album as a solo artist until 1973.
