Sounds of Silence is the second studio album by Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 17, 1966. The album's title is a slight modification of the title of the duo's first major hit, "The Sound of Silence", which originally was released as "The Sounds of Silence". The song had earlier been released in an acoustic version on the album Wednesday Morning, 3 . and later on the soundtrack to the movie The Graduate.
Even when the album 'picks up,' it still never strays far from a relaxed exploration of the lush organics they're able to draw from their standard rock setup, aided here by assorted percussive oddities (vibraphones, chimes, etc). As calm as their most recent work has been, a more natural touchstone for The Sounds of the Sounds of Science is the Future Sound of London's Lifeforms
Marielle Allschwang is a musician and visual artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marielle’s solo record, Dead Not Done, (Gloss Records, August 2015) was placed on Milwaukee Magazine’s Music Notes Top Picks for August and Best of Summer Playlist. Dead Not Done is the title track from Marielle Allschwang’s debut solo album. I include this performance as it demonstrates my affinity with Molly’s work: a fluidity with drive, moving through reflections on loss and power/resolve. Because this project is in its nascent stages, I can’t say that I will write a traditional song for my score for Blackbird’s Ventriloquy, however the elements I describe are key entrance points.
