All the words sound so accidental Rise and fall like an old balloon Oh, my words and my marble-heavy mind Wasting time. All wasted on instructions For you to carry me around You pay me attentions Then wave me off with a good bye. When you speak to me I speak too pleasantly. Written By Inara George. Arranged By Van Dyke Parks. Release Date August 12, 2008. An Invitation Inara George with Van Dyke Parks.

This is an album for Sunday afternoons, for fans of Frank Sinatra and Aaron Copeland, for sophisticates who want music to soothe their minds rather than demand its full attention.

Summary: Inara George Works pairs up with the famous arranger Van Dyke Parkson on her latest album inspired by Frank Sinatra and Richard Sherman. Record Label: Everloving. Genre(s): Rock, Alternative, Singer-Songwriter. An Invitation must have been a fun side project, but it may have all the permanence of the summer breeze it captures so perfectly. 60. The record turned out to be the new album from Inara George, Lowell George’s daughter and an artist whose previous work (including the somewhat twee electropop Bird And The Bee project with Greg Kurstin) hasn’t really grabbed me much. This time, though, she has enlisted Van Dyke Parks – a presence in her life from birth, thanks to his closeness to her father – to provide orchestral settings for her songs. There are two obvious contemporary models for An Invitation. One is Joanna Newsom’s Ys, or at least the lavish, quixotic arrangements which Parks created for the songs on that record
